In a Wood
Let us begin.
Imagine a wood in a mystical world
where fairy dust and pixies flutter in the rays of the sun.
Then imagine a clearing, not too big and not too small.
And in the middle of this clearing
stands a large tree, like one you've never seen before.
Like the one I hope to find.
See, this tree, is no ordinary tree.
And there is a thing or two you should know.
All trees sprout life,
it may not always be with leaves of green
or sturdy branches of buckling bark.
And it may not even bear fruit ripe and sweet.
But a tree, despite all these short-comings, can
still hold life forces we know nothing about.
And in this case,
This mysterious tree holds something in the thickness.
The something that didn't concern me before
But drives me to look for it now.
Picture this tree, if you can.
A trunk thick and robust
branches long and slender
but with leaves that shimmer of new golds, greens
and pinks and blues. Colours all familiar yet unusual.
Flower petals drift from the stems like wishes from
a child's lips. Carefree, whimsical and full of hope.
Sunshine beams down highlighting its understated magnificence.
And if you look closely, deep within the twisted vines
and glittering rays of light
sleep two angels.
Round faces and glowing skin
bare and inncocent.
They sleep dreaming of greatness
of love
of gratitude
and of faith.
Is this what I hoped to see?
and glittering rays of light
sleep two angels.
Round faces and glowing skin
bare and inncocent.
They sleep dreaming of greatness
of love
of gratitude
and of faith.
Is this what I hoped to see?
Is this what I've come in search of?
I have looked within
Dug deep in the valleys of my spirit
Braved the arctic tundra of my soul
And walked like a wayward vagabond
over the coarse stones to find calm.
Here. To reach here, where these angels sleep.
And as if they spoke to me without waking
a blissful kiss from the soft breeze said,
words I dare not utter, but a message I knew from within.
They sleep with gentle smiles and soft breaths...
Waiting for me to wake them.
